Orlando Sitney

Orlando was born in the island of Grenada. Orlando migrated to Washington DC where he studied Radio and Television Broadcasting at Georgetown School of Arts and Science. After graduation he joined the News team at WPFW Pacifica Radio in Washington DC as a News Reporter.

In 1978 Orlando returned to Grenada and interned as a Radio DJ on Radio Grenada..
In 1983 Orlando moved to England to study Journalism at the College of Journalism. He joined London Weekend Radio (LWR) as a radio announcer. During his studies at the College of Journalism he was offered an opportunity to join the broadcast Team at the BBC Radio London “Black Londoners”. There he remained until his return to Toronto In 1985.

On his returned from England Orlando joined the Campus radio of CHRY Radio as it Broadcast Closed Circuit to York University Campus. In 1986 when CHRY Radio received it license from the CRTC to Broadcast as a full pledged Radio Station Orlando was given the opportunity to be the first voice heard on CHRY 105.5 FM as it broadcast to Toronto and it suburban areas. As a Programmer on CHRY, Orlando has won the Top Soca DJ Award from the Annual Canadian Reggae Music Awards on four different occasions. Orlando has being nominated and received numerous achievements awards for community service from the Caribbean cultural Committee, The Grenada association (Toronto), The Canadian African Caribbean Committee, CHRY Community Radio, and the Grenada Boys Secondary School Toronto Alumni.

Orlando holds a Diploma in Journalism and Professional Writing from Trans- World Tutorial College of Jersey Britain, A diploma with high honors in Industrial Maintenance Mechanic and a Certificate in Travel and Tourism from Seneca College.

As a member of the Caribbean Cultural Committee (Caribana) Orlando served for many years on the Entertainment committee that was instrumental in the strategical planning of the Olympic Island two day Musical Festival.

In 1990 Orlando formed “Padam Production” an Entertainment company that was instrumental in the promotion of numerous Artists, their music and culture from the islands of Grenada, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Antigua and Bermuda, St. Kitts and Nevis, Dominica and Trinidad and Tobago in Toronto. Orlando now acts as a Manager and Marketing Consultant for a Number of Recording Artists and Organizations.
